Lenten Info
The Catholic Church’s Observance of the Season of Lent, 2026.
Lent is the principal season of penance in the Christian year. All are strongly urged to develop and follow a program of voluntary self-denial, attentiveness to prayer, and especially to works of charity and mercy. To disregard the following is a serious matter.
Everyone 14 years of age or over is bound to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and all the Fridays of the season of Lent. Everyone 18 years of age and under 59 years of age is bound to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, in the season of Lent. On these two days of fast and abstinence, Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, only one full meatless meal is allowed. Two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted on these two days, but liquids including milk and fruit juices are allowed. When health or ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does not oblige.
Loving Christ, Loving Others
We are Holy Archangels Parish, a Catholic community born from a season of prayerful consolidation and renewed mission. Our parish joyfully brings together the parishioners of Sts. Peter and Paul (Nauvoo) , Immaculate Conception (Carthage) , Sacred Heart (Warsaw) , St. Mary’s (Hamilton) , and Sacred Heart (Dallas City) . While our history is rich and shared across these communities, we now gather for worship at three active church sites: Sts. Peter and Paul in Nauvoo, Immaculate Conception in Carthage, and Sacred Heart in Warsaw—united as one parish family under the patronage of Holy Archangels Parish .
Rooted in a deep love of the Most Holy Trinity, we are known for working hard, caring deeply for one another, and welcoming all with genuine hospitality. Our parish is also blessed with a PreK–6th grade Elementary School at Sts. Peter and Paul in Nauvoo, where faith, learning, and community grow together each day.
Whether you are a lifelong Catholic or searching for a church home, you are welcome here—we would be honored to walk with you in faith.
